Junior Match Reports!

Junior Vikings Roar Back into Action! 🏏

What an incredible couple of weeks it's been for our Barton Town CC junior teams! After some challenging early matches, our young Vikings have truly found their stride, delivering thrilling performances and racking up some fantastic wins. Let's dive into the action!

Under 11s Bounce Back in Style! 💪

After recent defeats to strong opposition in App Frod and Market Rasen, our Under 11s performed brilliantly, securing wins over Outcasts in the Plate Competition and Broughton in the League! The latest victory sees them sitting nicely in 3rd position in the League. What a turnaround! 🎉

Sunday, June 8th: Barton Town 318 for 5 (Nett 293) Beat Outcasts 280 for 9 (Nett 235)

Sunday morning brought sunshine and a flurry of runs! Our youngsters scored a massive 78 runs off the bat, complimented by some fantastic running between the wickets. Will (12) and Jack (11) got us off to a flyer, putting on +29. Next, Lucy and Bailey battled hard and ran well, moving the score to 249, with Bailey showing incredible heart after taking a nasty blow to the tummy – what a trooper! Despite losing a couple of wickets, Joe B (22), including a huge six 💥, and Fraser kept the runs flowing to 269, setting up the last pair perfectly. George (17) and Joe T then overcame some good bowling to see us finish on a great 293.

With such a big score on the board, it was always going to be a tough ask for our visitors. Some superb bowling and fielding saw Outcasts finish on 235, giving our Junior Vikings a dominant 58-run victory! Wickets were shared around with Will (2 for 4), George (2 for 10), Joe B (2 for 5), Lucy (2 for 16), and Joe T (1 for 17). The high fielding standards were further illustrated with Skipper George hitting a direct run-out from an incredible 20 meters! Talk about precision! 🎯

Tuesday, June 10th: Barton Town 312 for 1 (Nett 304) Beat Broughton 269 for 11 (Nett 181)

Back in league action, and what a statement victory! Our superstars beat near rivals Broughton by a whopping 123 runs! Another 70 runs off the bat saw us put the visitors' attack under pressure from the get-go. Another great start as Will (10) and Jack (8) put on +31. Lucy and Lowan then moved us along to a healthy 248 at the halfway point. Back to his best for the second game running, "Boom Boom" (20) dispatched the ball to all parts, including another big six, in a great partnership with wicketkeeper Ted. George (14) and Joe T (8)finished the innings in style, progressing the score to 304 with a plus 25 score.

The bowling and fielding unit was yet again on top form, claiming 11 Broughton wickets! The fielding performance was outstanding as Will took two brilliant catches, to go with a good grab by Jack and a fantastic skied catch by Ted (we're not sure his Dad would have caught that one! 😉). Wickets for Will (1 for 9), Joe T(1 for 10), and Jack (1 for 13). Ruben (2 for 5) and Lowan (2 for 2) were both brilliant and undoubtedly gave their best bowling displays to date – well done, boys! However, the Star of the Show went to Lucy, who claimed the astonishing figures of 4 for 5 in a magical spell of bowling at the end. Simply incredible! ✨

Next up: App Frod away on the 20th. Go well, Junior Vikings, we are all incredibly proud of you! UTV!

Under 13s Back on Track! 🚀

After a couple of tough weeks, our Under 13s bounced back with a thrilling victory, followed by a resounding win, to sit 4th in the league table. What resilience!

Monday, June 9th: Barton Town 302 for 7 (Nett 246) Beat Healing 275 for 4 (Nett 243)

Visiting Marsh Lane, Healing batted sensibly, showing a mixture of good defense and excellent shot selection to finish on a good 243. Wickets for Mal (1 for 5), Jordan (1 for 12), and Megan's spin claiming (2 for 9). Paceman Harvey remained wicketless, however, only conceded 5 runs from his 3 overs – fantastic control!

An excellent start from Harvey (14) and Mal saw us end pair one on 219. Next up, Captain Lily and Georgeprogressed us along to 230. Despite a nightmare start, Jordan and Josh showed great character to battle back and set the game up for Megan and Jasper, as the match hung in the balance at 225. Against some good bowling, Megan showed her class as she hit 21 off 13 balls, and with Jasper showing great composure and a cool head in the last over, Barton claimed the victory by the narrow margin of 3 runs! A brilliant game which kept the crowd on the edge of their seats and nails chewed right to the last! 🤯

Monday, June 16th: Barton Town 305 for 4 (Nett 273) Beat App Frod 281 for 12 (Nett 185)

A great team display on a lovely summer's evening at Brumby Hall saw the points head back to Marsh Lane. A clinical display in the field saw us claim 12 wickets to see App Frod set us a modest 185. Wickets for Megan(1 for 5), Alfie (1 for 14), Mal (1 for 4), and Harvey (1 for 15). Jasper claimed (2 for 16), Sam was on top form with (2 for 8), and George bowled superbly to finish with (2 for 9). Even more pleasing was the bowling was backed up by our best fielding display of the season so far! Jasper took a good catch, and "The Blonde Bombshell" (we're looking at you, Lily! 😉) took a smart stumping off cousin Alfie. Megan set the standard, claiming an impressive 3 catches! What a fielding masterclass! 🧤

Harvey (18), including 4 boundaries, got us off to a flyer with Mal as they put on +31 for the first pair. Lily (11)and Alfie progressed us up to 240. Sam and George (11) then moved us further ahead at 259. To complete a brilliant all-round evening, Megan then dispatched the ball to all parts as she scored 26 from 14 balls, hitting 4 boundaries on the way, ably supported by Jasper (9).

Next up, a trip to Outcasts on Monday, June 23rd. Two great results to get the season back on track. Top stuff, everyone! UTV!

Under 16s On The Brink Of Back-to-Back Titles! 🏆

Wednesday, June 4th: Barton Town 119 for 1 Beat Outcasts 61 for 8

A strong batting display saw us bounce back from the disappointing defeat away at Haxey to claim the points at Outcasts. Sam P (38) with another great knock, Joe (37) with another display of power hitting setting us on the way, and Lydia (13) along with Benno (15) took us to a big score of 119 from 16 overs. Brilliant batting all around!

Excellent bowling from Harvey (2 for 6), Luke (1 for 10), Mal (1 for 6), Megan (1 for 8), and Benno (2 for 0) saw Outcasts never get into the game, finishing on 61 for 8. Good stuff in the field too, as Joe claimed 2 catches at gully to go with good grabs for Lily, Luke, and Benno.

Wednesday, June 18th: Barton Town 49 for 0 Beat Alkborough 45 All Out

Our last game of the league program saw us entertain local rivals Alkborough. While the table pointed to a home victory, the absence of five key players meant the remaining regulars would have to perform to achieve this and put us within touching distance of Back-to-Back Titles!

Skipper Benno won the toss and asked Alkborough to bat. Despite the resilience of the Alkborough Captain, wickets fell at regular intervals as our opposition were bowled out in the 18th over. Spinner Olly kept things tight with 1 for 3 from 3 overs, while Luke, Mal, and Aidan all took a wicket. With the absence of five key players, the pressure was on the Skipper, and he didn't disappoint as he tore the batting apart to finish with 5 for 9 from his 4 overs – great stuff, Benno! 🔥 Catches for Ben and also for Lily, who kept wicket for the first time at Under 16 level – fantastic versatility!

Sometimes small run chases can prove harder than they look; however, not on this occasion, as Ben (28 not out) and Megan (17 not out) eased us to victory in just 9 overs.

A brilliant display from all 11 players to win the game and put us within touching distance of the League Title. Special mention to Jasper, George, and Lucy, who all stepped up and played their parts with both ball and in the field – fantastic!

Next games will be some supplementary fixtures running July 2nd, July 9th, and July 16th. As soon as we know who we are playing and where, we'll be in touch.

So, all in all, a pretty good two weeks for the whole Junior set-up!

Well done, everyone, keep it going! UTV! 🥳

Fantastic read on the junior match reports from Barton Town CC! Those young cricketers are showing real grit and skill, chasing down tough totals like true champions—it's inspiring to see the next generation light up the pitch with such passion. As a parent juggling coaching duties and the kids' schedules, I can relate to the thrill of those close wins and the lessons from tight losses; it mirrors the teamwork we teach off-field too. Balancing it all often feels like a management assignment, but thankfully services like management assignment help cheap make it easier to stay on top without breaking the bank. Keep these updates coming—they're a brilliant way to rally the community and motivate the juniors for more victories…
