2 More Wins! 🏏🏏

Sunny Saturdays continue and so does the Vikings making the most of them!

First team played host to Normanby Park at the @wrenkitchens cricket ground and on another baking day, captain @__lewisbarnes won the toss and decided to have a bat first. Barnes (24) was quickly questioning his decision after he lost his partners cheaply and was walking off himself with the scores 35-4. But the returning @knappers76 and partner Shreeve calmed all nerves, John batted freely scoring 43 whilst at the other end Shreeve dug in and battled hard for his 44. Then two more game changes met in the middle @ian.andrew.3388 (40 not out) batted perfectly managing the situation, rotating strike with ease whilst at the other end @palin_mpr (56 from 24) went nuts. These two partnerships really changed the game and from 35-4 Barton managed to amass a very impressive 240-9 from there 45.

Into the field and Barton started quickly, early wickets was key and that’s what happened. Opening pair @bradleyhodson92 (1-31 from 6) and Palin (2-15 from 6) took a wicket a piece and the visitors were 5-2.

@lucaswaller32 was the pick of the bowlers finishing with figures 2-36 from his 9 whilst @jacko765 finally bowling seam up took 1-8 from 5. @bawright92 was also impressive with the ball wicketless but his tight 9 overs for 17 meant the game was always in control. John got the other wicket with the ball and @georgeyyboyy95 with a run out.

A mixed day for the ones but another win and we now keep moving!!

The 2nd XI made the trip over to Hibaldstow to play Scunthorpe 3rd XI on what was a very very warm day! Keen to win the toss and Bat skipper @mattywaller92 obviously lost the toss! But not to worry, Dean Cressey lifted spirits trapping the opening bat first ball of the innings! At one point Scunthorpe we’re 16/3 with barton well and truly on top, but they dug in and Frustrated Barton to

Bat out the overs finishing on 115/8.

Barton got off to a positive start being 20/1 off 4 overs when @oliver_mussett fell. @jackdrury99 and Jez kept the runs flowing and only for Drury’s stitch was he ran out. In comes today’s hero, @rupertdingleberry ! Wearing his club shirt for the first time he carried the weight of the badge with ease, caressing himself to a maiden BTCC 50* with Jez Evans supporting at the other end! A great win and 3 on the bounce! #UTV #BTCC #BlackandGold #ProjectKnapton #openingupcricket
