Finally the rain relents and junior cricket commences !!!

Under 11’s

Our young guns in the under 11 section yet again enjoyed their early morning start as they battled Outcasts in a League and Cup Double header on Sunday . Outcasts opted to bat first and despite a brilliant innings from the visiting captain of 22 not out we managed to take an impressive 10 wickets to see Outcasts finish on a nett of 206 . Wickets for Captain Lucas with 2 for 17 , the ever reliable Harvey with an impressive 2 for 1 , Alex with 2 for 8 , the “Blonde Bombshell” Lily with 2 for 11 whilst on debut Finners claimed 2 for 7 . A brilliant display with the ball !!!

In reply a really good , disciplined performance saw us lose only 2 wickets to finish on nett 229 . Top score from Man Of The Match Harvey hitting 7 not out including a great shot for 4 . Nicely set going into the last pair Lucas and Alex saw us home against some good bowling to book our place in finals day in July . Brilliant effort guys we are all proud of you ! UTV

3 games in a week for these guys starting at Haxey on Monday 7th

After beating Haxey in a great county cup match our hosts gained revenge in the league meeting . Despite a Man of the Match display by Olly Small who took 4 for 9 from his 3 overs (on a hat trick twice) , Haxey set us a challenging 253 for victory . Excellent in the field again with catches for Oscar Blackburn , Ben Andrew , whilst Oscar Moore claimed both a catch and a run out . 253 proved a challenge beyond us as the loss of 8 wickets saw us finish someway short at 208 . Top scores from Oscar Blackburn 12 , Captain Ben Andrew 10 and Theo Flowers 7

The following day saw us well beaten by a very strong Normanby Park in the county cup . Highlights included 3 wickets for Oscar Moore in an impressive display against some county players , whilst top scores came from Ben Andrew 10 and Spencer Leaning 8 as we fell to a heavy defeat . Special mention to Alex Shelbourne who in the face of some seriously good bowling showed dogged determination to take the game to the last over . Good Luck Normanby in the next round !

3rd time lucky as we played Normaby Park B this Monday . Put into bat we set a very good 259 losing only 4 wickets in the process in a much better display . Theo Flowers set the tone with an excellent 13 not out including 2 boundaries and he was backed up by Olly Small 13 ( 2 boundaries ) and Rob Southee back on form with 10 not out whilst Ben and Nathaniel entertained up with some fantastic running in the last pair to put on 28 .

Normanby were never really in the hunt as a great bowling performance saw them restricted to a nett score of 190 as we claimed 9 opposition wickets . Seamer Oscar Blackburn claimed 1 for 14 , Theo added to his great knock with 1 for 6 from 3overs whilst the ever miserly George Vickers took 1 for 1 from 2 overs and Rob claimed 1 for 6 . Skipper Ben had the opposition in a spin as his 3 overs saw him take 4 wickets for 4 runs . Well played boys !

Finally some cricket for this talented group !

Thursday night saw us visit Messingham for an excellent game played in a great spirit . Our hosts set an challenging 106 for 6 from their 20 overs with scores of 30 and 24 from county players Liam Sylvester and Josh Joy respectively . After a flying start Barton pegged Messingham back thanks to Michael Harrison 4 overs for just 11 runs , Ben Andrew 4 overs 2 for 14 and Mitch Goldby 3 over 3 for 8 . Special mention to Captain Olly Yard who claimed 3 catches . In reply Olly Yard 31 not out along with Anneka Watson got us on the right track , backed up by Michael Harrison 12 . However at 76 for 8 ( in the 13t over ) and with no 11th man Olly was unable to return to crease to see us to victory . In good spirit we batted out the overs as a “friendly” and with great support from Will Crowe we surpassed 106 with balls to spare as Olly added another 32 to in effect finish 63 not out . Brilliant knock Olly !!

This Tuesday saw us make the short trip to Broughton to play another cracking team in Broughton . A strong top 3 display by the home club saw them finish on 106 for 8 . Ted Bedwell claimed 1 for29 from his 4 whilst similar spells saw Ben Andrew 2 for 25 and Michael Harrison 3 for 18 . Mitch Goldby’s 2 overs saw him take 2 for 8 . Whilst wicketless Josh Portas bowled with pace and accuracy as his 4 overs saw him concede only 5 runs . Catches for safe hands Oscar Blackburn with 2 and a smart catch at point for Ben .

In reply we again gave it a good go but fell marginally short . Another wonderful innings from skipper Olly Yard 35 not out in a 45 run opening stand with Anneka Watson (10) put us well placed but after that opening stand only Michael Harrison 23 offered resistance against some good pace bowling

Brilliant to be watching cricket again , rather than he rain ! Well done everyone , you are the future ! UTV
