Under 11s and 13s progress in the cup 🏏🏏

Sunday morning saw our U11s entertain Market Rasen in the cup and come out victorious in an impressive display . Rasen batted 1st and we restricted them to 50 runs taking a brilliant 10 wickets in the process to finish on 170 . Wickets for Captain Lucas 3 for 7 , George 2 for 6 , Will 1 for 3 , Alex 1 for 8 and Charlie 1 for 9 . Fantastic fielding saw catches for Lucas and Will , who had a direct hit run out too ! Another great display behind the stumps for Megan with a catch and a run out . In reply a solid batting display saw us score 38 for the loss of 6 wickets for a winning score of 190 . An excellent game , well played everyone

Wednesday night saw the Under 13s in County Cup action at home to Haxey . In a change to the regular league format of 8 aside pairs cricket this game brought the “Real” cricket 11aside experience to the lads . Captain Ben Andrew won the toss and asked Haxey to bat . From the off Haxey were on the back foot as Spinner Ben took 2 for 7 from his 4 overs , ably supported by fellow opening bowling Oscar Moore who conceded just 9 runs from his 3 overs . Haxey fought back well but George Vickers with 1 for 13 from 4 overs and Olly Small 1 for 5 from 2 kept them in check to finish on 77 for 6 from their 20 overs .

In reply Barton lost an early wicket but then a superb 46 run 2nd wicket partnership between Nathaniel Bowm 25 and Ben Andrew 12 saw us cruising at 55 for 1 with 6 overs to go . 2 quick wickets then saw us in peril as we fell to 61 for 7 with 3 overs to go . With strength in depth though Oscar Moore , Alex Shelbourne and George Vickers batted superbly to pressure our visitors into mistakes and see us home with 2 balls to spare . A great game played in front of a good sized and well entertained crowd . Well played lads a real team performance , onto the next round now at Normanby Park next week!
